A custom silicone patch is a branding badge molded from liquid silicone rubber rather than stitched from thread or cut from PVC. The logo is cured into the material, so color runs all the way through and cannot peel off the surface.
A molded silicone patch is a separate 1mm to 5mm badge with its own outline for caps, backpacks, jackets, tactical panels, and luggage. A silicone heat transfer label presses directly into fabric, typically 0.3mm to 1.2mm flat or 1mm to 3mm raised, making it better for activewear, base layers, and swimwear.
As a hands-on silicone patch maker, our production process is built to catch design issues before manufacturing begins, not after. Once you send your artwork, we review the shape, finish, relief, colours, and intended use, then prepare a clear estimate before anything is tooled.
We send a confirmation so you can approve the estimate before we begin. After approval, our expert team creates the production-ready file and sends you a digital mockup for review, allowing for any requested revisions.
Send your logo or reference image for our design team to create a production-ready file for silicone moulding. Receive a proof to approve before production.
Once the proof is approved, your custom silicone patch is moulded and coloured to match the approved artwork, then finished with your chosen backing: heat-seal, Velcro, adhesive, or a sewing channel.
Every batch is checked for colour accuracy and finish before it ships. Choose your shape, size, soft-touch matte or gloss finish, raised 3D or flat detail, Pantone-matched colours, and backing style.
Works well: bold logotypes, icons, monograms, outlined shapes, negative space, layered depth, thin raised lines down to about 0.8mm, and Pantone solids.
Needs a conversation: photographic gradients, text below about 0.1 inch cap height, hairline outlines under roughly 0.5mm, metallics, and neon Pantones.
Will not work: true gradients, halftones, and artwork relying on transparency. We flag these issues at quote stage before tooling.
Custom 3D silicone patches use relief depth rather than layered flat colour, giving the logo shadow and dimension under raking light. Flat 2D work costs less and reads cleaner at small sizes.
Send a logo, a napkin drawing or a photo of an old patch. Our team digitises it and sends a mockup for your approval.

Silicone or PVC: The Actual Decision
| DECISION | SILICONE | PVC |
|---|---|---|
| Best use | Stretch fabrics, heat, cold, skin-contact garments, and premium labels | Rigid badges on bags, vests, and caps where cost matters more than hand-feel |
| Base material | Liquid silicone rubber, cured | Plasticized polyvinyl chloride |
| Hand feel | Soft, matte, slight grip | Firmer, glossy plastic |
| Heat tolerance | Roughly 390°F and above | Softens nearer 250°F |
| Cold behavior | Stays flexible below freezing | Can stiffen and crack |
| UV and ozone | Strong resistance | Fades sooner outdoors |
| On stretch fabric | Moves with the fabric | Resists and can lift at edges |
| Phthalates | None | Requires controlled sourcing |
| Fine detail | Holds smaller detail and molds thinner | Good, but coarser at small sizes |
| Unit cost | Higher | Lower |
PVC is the better badge; silicone is the better label. Silicone runs higher per unit, so PVC may be the right option for large canvas-bag runs. See our custom PVC patches for the firmer option.
Press with top heat only at around 340°F for 15 to 20 seconds with firm pressure. Use a protective sheet, let the patch cool for at least 30 seconds, and test one piece before running the batch. Heat transfer labels run cooler, around 320°F for 15 to 20 seconds; let the garment sit 24 hours before its first wash.
Machine wash inside out, warm or cold. Silicone tolerates a tumble dryer. Skip fabric softener on the patch, do not iron directly on silicone, and keep dry-cleaning solvents away from it.
Silicone stays flexible from roughly minus 40°F up past 390°F and is unaffected by rain, sweat, chlorine, and saltwater. What varies is the backing, so we recommend physical samples when hand-feel and application are important.
Brands wanting a logo that survives repeated washing and does not crack when the fabric stretches.
Silicone on cap fronts and side panels curves with the crown instead of fighting it.
Silicone suits saltwater, chlorine, UV exposure, and high-contact technical garments.
Velcro-backed morale designs and IR-compatible unit insignia for gear and uniforms.
Phthalate-free branding for orders that need a cleaner compliance conversation.
A matte, understated mark that reads premium rather than promotional.
We do not make medical or cosmetic silicone products. Scar sheets, wrinkle patches, under-eye patches, and skin-contact therapeutic silicone are outside our scope. Our silicone goes on clothing and gear.
We also do not reproduce trademarked logos, licensed characters, sports league marks, or unit insignia you are not authorized to use. We quote after seeing the artwork and finished size.
Send AI, EPS, PDF, or a high-resolution PNG with the finished size, quantity, backing, and garment. Artwork issues are quoted at this stage rather than later.
Share your logo, sketch, or reference image along with the intended size, quantity, and application.
Tell us your finish, flat or 3D profile, Pantone colours, and preferred backing.
We prepare a quote and digital proof for your approval before tooling or production begins.
We mold, inspect, and ship. Standard delivery is 2 to 3 weeks door to door; rush lands inside 2 weeks.
We do not charge a separate mould or setup fee. Tooling elsewhere commonly starts near $150 per design and may be re-billed on reorders. Pricing depends on size, thickness, colour count, backing, construction, and quantity, and your quote is the price before anything is tooled.
Standard production and delivery runs 2 to 3 weeks. Rush service is available inside 2 weeks, and proofs come back before that clock starts.

Neither is best for every application. Silicone is softer and more flexible, making it well suited to garments and activewear. PVC is firmer and more structured, making it popular for tactical and rugged outdoor gear.
A correctly pressed one will not. Silicone tolerates dryer heat better than PVC; peeling almost always traces back to a press that was too cool, dwell too short, or bottom heat left on.
Yes. Silicone flexes with the fabric rather than resisting it, so it is a strong choice for four-way stretch panels, base layers, and compression wear. For those garments, a thin heat transfer label can be better than a molded badge.
Yes. We can create raised 3D molded detail or a flat profile, depending on your artwork and the look you want.
Heat-seal works well for garments, Velcro is useful for removable gear patches, adhesive is suited to quick application, and a sewing channel is the durable choice for permanent attachment.
Around 0.1 inch of cap height is the practical floor on molded silicone. Raised detail can hold down to roughly 0.8mm line width; we flag smaller artwork at quote stage.
No. We can run a single patch or a full production batch. Per-unit cost drops with quantity, so we can show sample and production pricing together.
Pantone solids can be matched because pigment is mixed into the silicone before curing. Metallics and neons are approximated and shown on the proof.
Silicone contains no phthalates, which is often the sticking point with PVC on kidswear. Ask at quote stage if you need documentation for a compliance file.
A molded patch is a separate 1mm to 5mm object attached by heat seal, stitching, or Velcro. A heat transfer label presses into the fabric with no raised edge and is better for tees and technical apparel.
Yes. We hold your tooling and approved Pantone references so a later reorder matches the first run without a repeat mould charge on our side.
Tell us the garment, finished size, and approximate quantity. You’ll get a price, proof, and a straight answer about whether silicone is right or PVC would serve you better.
